Teacher: Ms. Dick
Students from George Washington's AOHT participated in a 6-week independent study that gave students the opportunity to connect their AOHT curricular skills with the professional skills they were developing at their internship.
For the first step in the inquiry process, students created an essential question to guide their study and daily internship experience. To further explore their essential question, students conducted internet based-research and coordinated interviews with key leaders at their internship site.
The 6-week independent study culminated in an integrated digital storytelling project. Students wrote and recorded a voiceover script, created a storyboard to organize the presentation of their ideas, and gathered digital images via the internet. Furthermore, they edited the interview footage for relevant content and reflected on their internship experience using the white screen film technique. Participants synthesized this digital media to produce a short film that informs the audience of the key findings of their inquiry.
